One Week in Nashville: Honky Tonks, Surprises, and Strong Coffee

Welcome to Nashville sign at airport.

Suppose you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to spend a whole week in Nashville, Tennessee, as a curious traveler with a love for good coffee, live music, and the occasional strange encounter at Taco Bell. In that case, this blog post is for you. I recently spent seven whirlwind days exploring Nashville, also known as Music City. Let me tell you—Nashville knows how to leave an impression.

This post will provide an overview, the big picture, and a catch-all guide before I dive into separate, deeper articles on the best eats, local bars, geocaching tips, and, yes, even Turkish coffee in Tennessee. Bookmark this one; it’s your launchpad for everything else I’ll be writing about Nashville.

Day 1: Broadway Nights and ID Checks at Fast Food Joints

The trip kicked off with what every visitor thinks they’re ready for: a night on Broadway. But nothing really prepares you for the mix of neon lights, jam-packed sidewalks, and honky-tonk after honky-tonk cranking out country hits, pop covers, and everything in between. The smell of fried food, beer, and bourbon was occasionally interrupted by whiffs of something that reminded me that large crowds and hot summer nights equal potent sidewalk stank.

Still, the energy was infectious. I ducked into Acme Feed & Seed, a multilevel bar with rooftop views and killer vibes. More on Acme later in a dedicated post—it’s earned it.

Later that night, I was hungry and stumbled into a Taco Bell. What I didn’t expect was to be asked for my ID. Yes, you read that right. ID to enter a Taco Bell. Turns out this one served booze and had a bouncer. Nashville, you strange and beautiful place.

Day 2: Coffee, Culture, and Curiosity

Saturday morning came fast, and with it, a strong need for caffeine. That’s when Nashville hit me with an unexpected cultural curveball during a conversation with a local: Turkish coffee. We chatted over the finer points of brewing traditions. Before long, I found myself with a care package of something stronger, richer, and far more ceremonial than my usual morning brew. It was one of the trip’s unexpected highlights. I’ll do a full review in a separate post, but if you’re a coffee nerd like me, Nashville’s got surprises beyond the beans.

The rest of the day was spent exploring more laid-back parts of the city. I’ll save the complete list for a future sub-article, but let’s just say geocaching here added some unexpected adventure. And if you don’t know what geocaching is, think of it as a global scavenger hunt for grown-ups with GPS. Highly recommend.

Day 3–7: Country Roads, Local Feels, and Saying Goodbye

As the week continued, I started walking a bit slower and talking a bit more like a local. That’s the thing about Nashville—it grows on you quick. I avoided the Broadway madness after the first night and took time to soak in some of the more local scenes. Parks, murals, tucked-away diners, and more spots I’ll unpack in future posts.

Before heading to the airport, I grabbed one last photo, standing by the Cumberland River with a skyline shot that felt like the perfect ending. Of course, I posted it with the caption: “Goodbye Nashville. You were loud, weird, and absolutely worth it.”
